Lightroom 2 beta is just like going back to the darkroom and dodging and burning. When I was printing my own stuff from film and don’t think I ever produced a print without dodging and/or burning part of it and now, with Lightroom 2, I can do that again only this time it’s much more flexible as you can add or take away before you process the print. Don’t you just love digital? Well I certainly do and would never go back to film.
The stuff I’m producing with the new Nikon D3 is staggering. The lack of noise and fast shutter response and focussing is just amasing.
Here are a couple of landscapes taken around the town a couple of days ago.

This area is so photogenic there is a good image no mater which way you look.
And now we have Lightroom 2 it just makes it even better. Thanks Adobe – what price is the full version going to be??

I don’t seem to have time to stop and write anything lately. Just got back from a photo show in Rome and still haven’t recovered from the trip to the UK and my course in the Lake district.
As last year the models did a wonderful job – out in the cold and still smiling

The rest of the gang appeared to enjoy themselves and judging by some of the images that are flying back and forth they also got some stunning images. I’m sure I’ll be seeing some in some of the competitions around this year.

I played around with a gold reflector this year and really loved the results – now I need to buy one here in Italy but couldn’t find one at the show in Rome yesterday. Anyone recommend getting one from anywhere?

Also did some great art nude work with Hannah which is more my style than the outdoor stuff. She was very patient as well, which helps. I hate models that jump about without you asking!

Annette with her Betty Boo style (is that how you spell it – it doesn’t look right now?)
All in all it was a really fun four days which went far too quickly. It’s amassing what time like that does for you though – it really charges the batteries as far as imagination goes.
It’s what I’m trying to do for other photographers on the courses in Italy. Just give them a boost so they can go back home and do more inspired work for the next year.
