Nearly Cruise time

In photography, travel on 28/09/2007 at 3:47 am

Well it’s 10 days to go before I fly down to Southampton to board the ship to sail the seas.

I’ve volunteered to give some talks on photography to the poor unsuspecting passengers on the Fred Olsen line’s ship Braemar cruising from Southampton to Barbados in October

The ship looks great but I’ve heard the speaker’s not up to much!

So, I’ve got 9 days (less the 2 days of wedding photography already booked) that’s 7 days to get my lectures ready.

Anyone any ideas???

Gwen Stafani

In Photographic, music, photography on 24/09/2007 at 5:41 am

Went to see Gwen Stafani in concert on Saturday at the MEN Arena in Manchester.  Me and 14,999 other people – a sell out show.

Gwen was fantastic singing live and must be incredibly fit to run about as much as she did while singing.  What a great performer.

I would love to do some official tour shots for her but don’t suppose I’ll ever get the chance.

I did sneak a couple of images with my Ricoh GX100 but was so far away up in the Gods that you can’t really see if it’s Gwen Stafani or Cilla Black!  I promise it is Gwen though and you can trust me “I’m a photographer”!

Just been working on some more images for my Alamy submissions today. I know I need to do my holiday photographs and last week’s wedding but I need to earn money as well!

I particularly like this one

Botswana

Not sure what it is – apart from a very big budgerigar!

I’m not really into photographing flying birds but this isn’t a bad snap either, I think.

birds in Botswana

Again, I’m not sure what sort of birds they are – anyone know???

I took them in Botswana last year – megga place which I loved although did get bitten to pieces by mosquitoes which I could have done without. My wife didn’t get one bite while I was covered in them.

Think this is some sort of dear but again animal spotting is not one of my favourite pastimes. I love photographing all things, it’s just the captioning that I don’t like. When I worked for a magazine we always had a “bent nib” (feature writer) who took the captions so that was much better but I’m hopeless at writing which is why I became a photographer in the first place! Thank goodness for spelling checkers, I say.

I’ve just noticed that all the view format images get cut off at the right hand side – does anyone know how to stop that?  Is it just my layout that’s doing it?

Just back from Holiday in Cyprus

In Photographic, drink, travel on 19/09/2007 at 9:44 am

Just got back from a hectic few days. Had a wonderful time in Cyprus with some long standing friends then came home for 8 hours then off to photograph a wedding in Cardiff.

I’ll publish some images from both in due course but really need to rest for a couple of hours! Here’s one to keep you going!

This is my second Brandy Sour of the day just waiting until the sun went right down.

What a beautiful island Cyprus is – wish I was there now although I’m still really looking forward to going to live in Italy at the end of December! I wonder if Italy will be as lovely as Cyprus?

The Cardiff Wedding of Amy & Andrew was great fun as well. The couple are in Kenya now so a bit unfair to publish any of their images until they see them but I will do in a couple of weeks time.
